today i've been browsing blogs (nothing new) and it seems that all the ones i've seen, the people are all connected haha they go to the same school, are friends and everything
they're cool.
it's weird cuz i'm so used to seeing people post everyday and if they don't i feel like something's missing haha...or maybe i just have no life.
watever the case is, i enjoy reading and seeing their pictures. =]

stylista came on tonight. disappointed by the results. dyshaun as "urban" as his name is i think he still should have won because he has a background in the work. unlike johanna who only has a fashion blog and is a lawyer or something [and old]..won because she grew during the last few weeks of the competition...she still has more to learn.

100 years later and we're in the SAME position.
i look at these music videos and they're degrading and disrespectful
but at the same time for me it's conflicting because even though it's wrong
they get aroused.
they and we all KNOW we should be anti-sexist, anti-patriarchal but that's just what society has implanted within our minds on what is the "norm" but not necessarily what is right
at the same time women don't have a choice either
women who are working IN the videos: they're obviously doing it for a reason
money or fame. and i know that as a woman it must be hard to put yourself out there explicitly for the whole world to see.
women who are watching: we know it's wrong we know that we should be accepted for who we are and NOT by our sexuality. but that's just the way things are. Most men are attracted to these images and what they see within the media. Not saying it's right but that's how it's come over the matter of years.
remember when it was okay for a man to be sensitive and not get "dogged" for it??
the 90s. great example. boys II men, jodeci, kc & jo jo, etc. black men exuding their emotions and putting them out on the line to show their affection for a woman.
now it's all hard core and everyone wants to be a wanna be thug. thinking that they're cool because they got shot and survived. or those who think that dying from a bullet wound is heroic in some way or dying for your "hood." ever think that sometimes the hood isn't always gunna have your back. They're not going to be their 24/7 and one day your luck or your 9 lives will run out.
Point is: what you see is definately NOT what you get. if these rappers are so-called thugs and "hard" how r they living in mansions and popping champagne at an after party, giving their wives or girlfriends rings and showing the same affection behind closed doors that boy groups in the 90s, etc were showing for everyone to see.
It's truly a shame.
this is all a part of the capitalistic system.

did reading notes. finished at 3am. uber tired.
art project. #2..didn't turn out how i wanted it too but..watever.

we'll see how that goes.
